Winter time and the best time to plan next year’s walking.  One of 2018’s main outings will be a combined Wolds Way, Cleveland Way and Tabular Walk.  Starting on the banks of the Humber in Hessle, the walk takes the shape of a letter ‘q’, looping around to Filey, then up the coast to Saltburn, turning inland to loop the North Yorks Moors via Osmotherley and Helmsley, and then back to Scarborough.

Here are the sections and GPX files.

Wolds Way

Hessle – Market Weighton, 23.42 miles, 737 m height gain, 7h 32mins, gpx

Osmotherley – Helmsley, 21.67 miles, 682 m, 8h 6mins, gpx

Tabular Walk

Helmsley – Hutton le Hole, 13.27 miles, 517 m, 5h 8mins,  gpx
Hutton le Hole – Lockton, 14.52 miles, 602 m, 4h 40mins, gpx
Lockton – Scarborough, 20.98 miles, 384 m, 7h 23mins, gpx

I’m thinking the Filey – Scarborough day can be combined with the preceding and proceeding days given that accommodation in Filey is a bit sparse.

This would make for a total trip length of 12 days or 8 days annual leave.  Use the early May bank holiday and that’s just 7 days.
